There Are No Bad Hockey Equipment Managers Featuring Mark Breiter

On Episode 88, the Beers in The Lot crew welcomed back Mark Breiter as a guest. Breits caught up with the guys on his season as the head equipment manager for Minnesota State University Mavericks women’s hockey and assisting on the men’s side for the Mavs. He talked about supporting the women’s and men’s teams during Hockey Day Minnesota in Mankato; the overtime no-goal call in the CCHA Championship and the Mavs eventually winning the Mason Cup after the game was restarted following an hour delay; and the Mavs trip to Boston for the Frozen Four.

Hockey Playoffs Bizarro World

On Episode 87 of Beers in The Lot, the guys discussed superstar Toronto Maple Leafs forward, Auston Matthews approaching 60 goals in the NHL regular season and his sneaky extra skating gears; lamented the Minnesota State University Mavericks’ loss to the Denver University Pioneers in the NCAA men’s hockey championship; and their observations that regular season trends seem to turn upside down in the playoffs.

Where Have All the Enforcers Gone?

Episode 86 finds the Beers in The Lot crew talking about what everyone else has been talking about-Arizona Coyotes forward Jay Beagle going after Anaheim Ducks players, Trevor Zegras and Troy Terry, in a recent game. The guys discussed the role or lack thereof for enforcers in the modern NHL game; what responsibilities players, officials, and the league have in incidents like this; and a similar situation between P.K. Subban, Jack Hughes, and Oliver Wahlstrom in a game between the New Islanders and New Jersey Devils. Jonny finished up the episode with a tirade against ESPN’s handling of the upcoming Frozen Four semifinal game featuring Minnesota State University and the University of Minnesota, as well as ESPN’s lack of classic NHL games to stream on-demand.
